Tripadvisor Presents 2006 Travelers' Choice Award Winners

This week I will make my commentary about the Tripadvisor Choice Award. It is an award for the best (and the dirtiest) hotels. It based on the voting and the opinion of the travellers who visit the page. These are not experts, just normal people; typical costumers that want to express their opinion.

The Award is divided in several categories:
Best Luxury, Best Hidden Gems, Best Inns and B&Bs, Best Bargains, Best Pool, Best for Families, Best for Romance and Best Service. They also appointed the 10 "dirtiest" hotels in the U.S. and Europe based on travellers ratings for cleanliness.

I will not comment the results here. That is not the case. What I wanted to remark here is the high relevance of this award. It is important for many reasons: First because it is the opinion of millions of costumers who make the final decision. Second because the internet has become "the" information channel of the moment. The success of TripAdvisor has given it a huge visibility (who never bumped into it, when searching for a hotel?). Finally, because the e-commerce has become a reality we cannot escape, especially in the hotel business.
