Hilton Earns Certification for Pioneering Green Building

Hilton Vancouver is one of the United States first green, environmentally sustainable hotels. They just won the certificate that goes under the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED rating system. In order to get this type of certification the building must achieve a series of standards in areas such as water savings, low-impact landscaping, reduced energy use and indoor air quality etc.

It has been years that companies started to worry about their image and impact on environment issues. Nowadays, in most of industries is has become very important (and sometimes even crucial) to have a ISO14000 certificate or similar. I believe it is a great step to set the example for others hotels. Moreover, the clients are demanding each time more, that companies have this kind of commitment.

In my opinion, It would be great for everybody and the planet, if we get to a point when the consumers make their buying decisions based also on the environment commitment of the company.
